Note: A finely detailed and superbly executed painting by Germany's leading automobile Artist Walter Gotschke, depicting Nuvolari in the Type ‘C' Auto-Union, Nürburgring 1936. Gotschke's impressionistic works have a style all of their own. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career, from the 1930's when he created several fine motor racing posters, and through World War II as a war Artist of note. The 1950's to 1970's saw his work attain worldwide interest, and this painting was illustrated in the prestigious American publication ‘Automobile Quarterly', in 1971. The editor of ‘Automobile Quarterly', Scott Bailey, was a great fan of Gotschke's work and the publication featured an unprecedented two major features of Gotschke paintings, in 1971 and in 1989.
