1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II HJ Mulliner Adaptation - Design number 7504
So rare are these wonderful convertible Clouds and hardly suprising when one considers how very expensive they were at the time - costing 1/3 more than a normal Rolls-Royce or Bentley
Most were produced and sent to the USA - indeed of the 110 cars of both types converted by HJ Mulliner's Chiswick coachworks, 74 were produced to this LHD specification
Our magnificent specimen was shipped, per "MV Loch Gowan" to Los Angeles from London on the 1st February 1961
Her first lucky owner was Mr Pardee Erdman of Santa Barbara and the guarantee date was 21st July 1961
He specified many non standard features, increasing further her heady new price
Electric hood operation
Refrigeration
Electric windows
Lambswool rug
Radio
Sundym glass
Heavy gauge frame
Mirror to drivers vent frame
Firestone whiteband tyres
She was Masons black with beige upholstery and a fawn hood originally and indeed stayed in this specification until our most recent keeper brought her in 2010 and undertook a refurbishment programme
He has very many coachbuilt Crewe products and his usual team stripped her bodywork and trim in readiness for a total sort out
Having said that when he purchased her she was described as being in very clean condition - he is such a perfectionist, he would have known when he purchased her that what was smart enough for them, was a good base for his proposed restorative project
Being a well known style guru he chose some magnificent colours for our Adaptation and she certainly cuts a swath in any company and at any venue - our pictures truly do not show just how magnificent she really is
Lustrous paintwork, soft putty like leathers, wilton carpets, mirror finished veneers, silky smooth drive train with effortless performance from the V8 engine and 4 speed automatic transmission - the most elegant manner in which to tour the French Riviera, Italian Riviera (Liguria), the Cotswolds or even our neighbouring Knightsbridge
She is simply breathtaking with aquality of workmanship which is quite outstanding
If you desire one of these look no further, for you have found "the one"
