1979 Mini 1275 GT - full restored condition
What a glorious colour - definitely fits in well with the late 1970's as was the 1275GT Mini - an updated of the original Mini Cooper's
This was the only "sports" version of the Mini series in the 1970's and was in period a well considered motorcar
Our Java Green beauty has enjoyed a full nut and bolt restoration and since has only covered 3.500 miles
It's always nice to be complimented and soon after the restoration was completed a Mini magazine was so impressed they featured the car, and the chap who undertook the works - we have downloaded it from the Web and a copy now sits in the history folder
Importantly many parts have been kept and NOS parts were sourced when required, hence the Mini feels like it would have been in period
The interior is very original, save for the Corbeau racing seats (I think the original seats are available too)
Stripped naked the bodywork was completely restored with many new Heritage panels fitted, etch primed, stone chipped and painted
Whilst out of the shell the engine was fully reconditioned, bored to 1293cc with new pistons, bearings, oil pump timing gear and fitted with Cooper S twin carburetors provides lots of low speed torque - quite handy upgrade this one
Electronic ignition ensures great reliability in running and also helping cold starting too
Next the gearbox was overhauled with new bearings and synchromesh along with a new clutch assembly and now she is a complete joy to drive - a real Grand Tourismo (she is called a GT after all) of her day - well in Mini terms anyway!!
The suspension was completely renewed with new bushes, springs & dampers fitted with new fuel and brakes lines, with new discs & drums at the back end lines
She is as pretty to look at as she is dynamic to drive
This is why Mini's were so adored in period and are still to this day
